The dive

Welcome to the Underworld

A dive site that defies scientific explanation.

If Cenote Maravilla is the cathedral of light, Cenote Zapote is the mystery of the deep. Located in the 'Ruta de los Cenotes', this site is world-famous for the 'Hell's Bells' (Campanas del Infierno) . These are massive, bell-shaped stalactites that hang from the ceiling and grow from the floor, defying gravity and logic. Scientists are still debating their origin, involving ancient bacteria and wind patterns from thousands of years ago. Diving here doesn't feel like being in Mexico; it feels like exploring a submerged alien planet.

  • World Unique Formations

There is literally nowhere else on the planet where you can see these "Bells". It is a geological singularity that belongs on every serious diver's bucket list.

  • The Hydrogen Sulfide Layer

At approximately 30 meters (100ft), depending on the season, a ghostly layer of hydrogen sulfide creates a false floor. Seeing the "Bells" hanging above this mist is a scene straight out of

  • Safety & Precision

Zapote is a deep dive with delicate formations. Our guides are trained to manage your buoyancy and profile perfectly, ensuring you get close to the bells without touching these fragile
